ACTIVITIES Guests at the 7 D enjoy the spectacular scenery while hiking, fishing, horseback riding, and on backcountry pack trips. Visitors catch occasional glimpses of local wildlife; elk, deer, moose, coyotes, wolves, bears, and a wide variety of birds. 7 D wranglers are pleased to offer group or individual riding instruction, half-day and all-day rides. Anglers can enjoy over a mile of excellent trout fishing on the Sunlight Creek, which flows through the ranch grounds, or take day trips to other sites nearby. A frequent afternoon sight is casting lessons on the lawn with our fishing guide. Quiet activities can include reading by the Main Lodge fireplace, relaxing in a hammock or lawn chair, or listening to birdsong from your cabin porch. Guided strolls introduce Sunlight wildflowers in season. Children and their counselors spend happy hours experiencing ranch life; riding, hiking to the Indian caves, meeting the animals, doing crafts, playing sports on the lawns, and learning about this unique environment. The Rec Hall is the place to play a game of pool or ping pong, try out the piano, join in the square dancing or Western two-step. Evening activities can include speakers (on bears, wolves, geology, wild sheep), sing-alongs, campfires with marshmallow s'mores, and lawn games. Horse Pack Trips - Call or write for our 7 D Ranch custom pack trip information. Early bookings (at least three months in advance) are suggested to secure reservations. Rates range from $275 - $350 per person per day, for groups of one to six. Fall Hunting Trips - Should be planned before January 15 for the following fall. All arrangements can be made for elk, sheep, moose, antelope and deer hunts. Call or write for details. Fishing - We have a great variety of good trout water available to our guests.
