- Winter: Featuring the powder-like snow that
Colorado is known for, C Lazy U's winter activities range from back country excursions to
down time in front of a fire. Guests have the opportunity to horseback ride outdoor amidst
breathtaking scenery and wildlife or indoor in the 10,000 sq. foot riding arena;
cross-country ski on 25km of groomed tracked and untracked trails or participate in a
moonlit ski tour; telemark ski in the backcountry; snowshoe on 25km of groomed trails or
explore C Lazy U's 2,000 acres; ice skate day or night on the skating pond; or experience
a sleigh ride with Levi and Strauss, the ranch's Belgian draft horse team or compete in a
sledding competition, to name a few. Equipment usage, professional ski guides and
instruction also are available to guests. Guests feel at home during C Lazy U's Holiday
Season with special tree trimming parties, caroling and Santa Claus visits. To ring-in the
new year, there's swing dancing or participating in a torch lit ice skating party. For an
extra cost, ranch guests can also participate in skeet shooting, dog sledding,
snowmobiling and downhill skiing at nearby Winter Park and Silver Creek ski areas.
The ranch offers complimentary shuttle service to the ski and snowmobile areas.
- Summer / Fall: A multitude of activities abound
in the summer and fall for C Lazy U guests including indoor and outdoor horseback riding
and instruction, fly-fishing, hiking, tennis (a tennis pro is available upon
request), swimming, paddle boats, square dancing (summer only) and Western entertainment.
- Riding Program: The ranch offers a variety of
horses ranging from gentle to spirited and, during the summer season, each guest is
assigned a horse for the duration of their visit that is matched with their riding
ability. Guests may choose only to partake in trail rides through miles of scenic mountain
trails or improve their riding skills with the help of an expert. C Lazy U's riding
program is very extensive and is a big area of focus. Each day, guests can select from
slow, medium and fast rides or some one-on-one indoor-arena training. An adventurous week
can culminate with a competitive and entertaining "Shodeo," complete with adult
equestrian skill events while children can exhibit the horsemanship skills they have
learned throughout the week.
- Activities & Excursions: Additional
activities available to ranch guests (for an extra cost) include skeet and trap shooting,
white water rafting on the Colorado River, golf at nearby Pole Creek Golf Course, boat
rides and windsurfing at nearby lakes and fishing with a professional guide in nearby
mountain streams and lakes. Complimentary shuttle service to the rafting location and golf
course is available for all off-ranch excursions as well as trips to nearby Winter Park
Resort which offers mountain biking, hiking and scenic chair lift rides, to name a few.
- Buck Brannaman Horsemanship Clinic: Sept. 23-28,
1998 - Each fall, C Lazy U offers the Buck Brannaman Horsemanship Clinic, a week-long
intensive program led by one of the West's foremost instructors. Priced at $1,325 -$1,525,
the clinic is available to adults, of any ability level, who want to improve their overall
horsemanship skills, and includes three days of arena instruction and open trail riding,
lodging, meals and ranch activities.
- Shopping: Luis Old Place, a Western
boutique, has a wide range of souvenirs and gifts including cowboy
hats, fine Indian jewelry crafted by the area's best jewelers, designer
Western clothing and sundries, to name a few. Guests also can travel
into the town of Granby or Winter Park for off-site shopping excursions.
