ACTIVITIES Part of the appeal of this ranch is the relaxed unscheduled family oriented atmosphere. Guests can prepare own meals and get up when they like. Horseback riding is a popular morning event. Afternoons are free for hiking, trout fishing, birdwatching or touring the Douglas areas scenic and historic sites. Children enjoy playing in the mountain streams. In the spring fed pond by the lawn are tame trout, toads and ducks. Plenty of reading materials and family games are available in the guest houses. Horseshoes, volleyball and roping practice are available. Daily chores for children might include feeding the dogs, cats, Rainbow trout, lambs, llama and calves. Mt. Rushmore, Devil's Tower, Ft. Laramie are in day trip driving distance. The State Pioneer Museum, Ft. Fetterman, and Ayers Natural Bridge are near Douglas. Avid hikers climb Laramie Peak or visit the fire lookout station east of the peak. WY State Fair is the third week of August in Douglas. Guests are included in seasonal ranch activities such as roundups, cattle drives, branding, shearing, calving and lambing. Skiing available at Hogadon 75 miles away. Dining: Breakfast and/or dinner available with hosts and employees by prior arrangement. They are family style with no menu choices. No lunches served. Entertainment: Animal watching, movies, reading, stargazing, rock hunting. Bring your skeet shooting equipment, kites, model rockets and tents and enjoy the space. Children's Program: Children are welcome at half price room rates. Infants free. Afternoon children's program available at an extra cost.
