Activities!
All
of our activities are part of a four fold program which includes Centered
Horseback Riding®; Ranch Activities; Body, Mind & Spirit Well Being;
and Earth Philosophy.
Centered Riding® works by teaching riders to become aware of their
unconscious habits and correct them. This allows one to discover a better
sense of balance and increased freedom of movement, which allows for clearer
communication between the horse and rider. Centered
Riding is the basis of our horseback riding instruction at the Ranch. In
addition to riding instruction, the Ranch offers trail rides ranging from
scenic, walking rides to fast and challenging rides. Horse grooming and
saddling lessons, a draft team lesson, a rodeo, and wagon rides are also
included within the horseback-riding program.
Fun ranch activities appeal to guests who want to participate in more
than horseback riding. Activities such as archery, trap shooting, fly
fishing, hiking, and a boat tour are offered as part of the ranch program.
The Body, Mind, & Spirit Well Being program is based on the belief
that we are a trinity of Body, Mind & Spirit. In order to live in
balance we need to be "mindful" on all three levels. Mindfulness
teaches us to be present in the moment. By
being present in our everyday life through mindful eating, breathing,
exercising and stretching we attend to our Body. In connecting ourselves
with the surrounding nature and our "inner nature" through
visualization and meditation we learn to pay attention to our Mind &
Spirit. In creating a balance between all three we enhance the quality in
all areas of our everyday life. Fitness hikes, jogging, yoga, meditation and
visualization, diaphragmatic breathing classes, and massage therapy are
included as activities within this program.
The
Earth Philosophy program opens guests to the beauty of their surroundings
and ancient earth wisdom. Guests participate in guided nature walks and an
interpretive hike on the "Medicine Trail" to learn about the
plants and wildlife native to the Rocky Mountains. The hike includes
tracking, identifying edible and medicinal plants, and discussing how
ancient cultures related to their environment.
Through a Pipe and Sweat Lodge Ceremony, Hidden Creek Ranch embraces a
beautiful way of celebrating ones respect for nature. The ceremony teaches
love for Mother Earth and points out the many spiritual ways for connection.
