Lucasia Ranch Vacations... Living
the spirit of the west!
If
you are looking for a true Alberta Canada
Working Ranch experience, head back in time to Historic
Lucasia Ranch. Join ranch cowboys as they herd cattle through
the picturesque Porcupine Hills of southwestern
Alberta.
Surround yourself with 4000 acres
of vast open country, which comprises the impressive Lucasia Ranch.
Herds of elk and deer mingle with
Texas Longhorns and Crossbred
cattle, as well as Percheron,
Appaloosa and Quarter
horses.
Established in
1881 by Colonel Lyndon, our Alberta Foothills
Ranch stands as testament to a bygone era. After a day in
the saddle, you can spend the evening beside a crackling campfire or
relaxing on our deck. Taste the crystal clear spring water that
flows through our ranchyard into a pond that is home to colourful
ducks and geese. Join our family as they go about the daily Alberta Ranch
activities.
Our main ranch
home has two guest
rooms. Or, you can experience pioneer life and stay in our
refurbished 1900s log cabin. Also, coming later this spring to
Lucasia Ranch is a new self-contained log cabin... check back for
details. Alberta
Ranch activities include cattle
drives, branding days, seasonal round-ups and regular checks on
cattle & horses. Other options... take in team roping practice
& learn the basics of roping the dummy, challenge someone to a
game of horseshoes, enjoy an evening of firepit cameraderie or hike
the hills and watch for birds and other
wildlife.
Lucasia Ranch is
a family-owned and run working ranch. The Lucas family enjoy meeting
and introducing guests the world over to their western lifestyle.
Wayne and Judy Lucas and their family take pride in the historic
ranch legacy that depicts Lucasia Ranch. Their daughter and her
family farm 30 miles east of the ranch while three sons, Rusty,
Brett and Flint, divide their time between other interests and ranch
life.
Access to the
Ranch is convenient from either the Calgary International Airport
(1.5 hour drive) or from the U.S. Montana border crossing. Often our
guests use our place as a staging area to drive to Banff,
Waterton National Park, Head Smashed In Buffalo Jump or Calgary,
returning the same day to the Ranch.
By
preserving our western heritage and lifestyle, we are able to share
the legends, history and culture of our cowboy life with our guests...
a visit to Lucasia
Ranch will leave you with a lifetime of western
memories.
