About the Area

Shelly and I feel that most rewarding aspect of owning our Ranch is the opportunity to get to know each individual guest. You can count on personal attention from the owners and the staff due to the limited number of guests we accept.

The Powderhorn Guest Ranch Adventure is designed to give our guests a unique opportunity to experience the silence and solitude of Colorado's high country beauty.

You are certain to have a fun-filled, adventure-packed stay with us.

'Gunnison Country', first settled by the Ute Indians, has a rich ranching and western heritage.

Elk, deer, eagles, birds of prey, bear, Bighorn sheep, mountain lion, fox and a variety of other animals call our area home.

While you are in our area be sure to check out these fantastic attractions located near the Powderhorn Guest Ranch.

Gunnison County has 18 churches that serve 16 denominations.

If you are looking for a good murder mystery you can explore the ill-fated 1874 journey of the Alferd Packer party in historic Lake City. Lake City also has shopping and museums.

The Powderhorn Guest Ranch played host to an imaginary murder mystery in "Murder at the Powderhorn Ranch" where Jessica Fletcher (Murder, She Wrote) uses our Ranch, Program and Staff as the backdrop for a thrilling who-dun-it. The paperback is available through Putnam / Penguin publishing and is also available at the Ranch.
