Horses
 Horseback
riding is the primary activity and, historically, the
most popular activity on the Powderhorn Ranch. Our horse
program is unique, dynamic, and will satisfy any experience
level of rider.
We
offer riding from Monday through Saturday during your
adventure.
Our
dramatic, scenery-laden horse rides vary from around
2 hours, to longer, high-country trips.
Our
string of surefooted horses and our experienced and knowledgeable
wranglers will guide you through beautiful scenery and
breathtaking views with every hoof beat.
Our
rides go out twice each day through aspen and pine scented
forests. While we cater to EVERY experience level – we
only allow single file riding. We insist on single file
for the safety of our guests, and our horses (and the
obvious geographical complexity of our unique trail system).
 We
take the time to evaluate each adult or child individually
to make the right horse, rider connection. We will choose
the right horse for each of our guest according to their
ability and that horse will be yours for the week.
We
offer FREE expert horse instruction, and our horse riding
lesson program is without equal. We also offer private
horse instruction for an additional nominal fee. Riding
instruction is part of the weekly program. You can even
choose assist the Wranglers in grooming and feeding our
herd!
At
the Powderhorn Ranch, we maintain our own herd of over
40 horses to accommodate any level of experience. Our
horses are our babies – not lease horses – we
do not rent them out, and we treat them like our own
kids.
For
your riding pleasure and safety - we give special attention
to novice riders and children. We also have experience
with and offer horse programs for special need children
and adults.
