Videos - Rates & Reservations - Guest Comments - Directions - "Slide Show" Sprucedale is a family-owned and operated guest ranch located high in the cool White Mountains of eastern Arizona. Owned by the Wiltbank family from the early 1940's, Sprucedale has made many wonderful memories for guests from all over the world. In fact, the Wiltbanks are well into welcoming their second and third generation of returning guests. Of course, the wonderful horseback riding is a major reason people come to the ranch. The Wiltbanks raise and train their own string of horses, so they know each horse and its capabilities. They can match up each rider with a horse that is well suited to the rider's needs. Whether beginner or experienced, everyone enjoys the horse rides and other horse-related activities. There are rides in the morning, which are divided into three ability levels. There is also an afternoon ride. Once a week, there is a picnic and swimming ride plus a gymkhana rodeo each week for the guests to participate in. Then there are cows to milk, and kittens to play with.
Sprucedale is off the beaten path, with a road that ends at its gate. The ranch setting makes for a safe place for children to roam and experience life on a cattle/horse ranch. When not on a horse, children love to splash in the creek or play basketball or volleyball. Parents love to sit on their porch and relax or read or just drink in the awesome view. The accommodations are rustic, cozy, clean cabins. Each cabin has its own bathroom, and a wood burning stove for the cool evenings.
The Wiltbank family and their capable and friendly crew serve up great home-cooked meals family style. The wranglers make the horse rides safe and enjoyable as they ride through the different rides in the timbered meadows and along the streams. Many a family reunion has been held at Sprucedale, along with corporate groups and seminars. Sprucedale is a haven for those who want to get away from it all and have a great time while doing it!
