The guest experience at The Hideout is the true cattle work experience of cowboys and wranglers with some pretty exceptional pampering included.  It’s the perfect balance of work and play for couples, families (most suitable for children over the age of 10), friends, or colleagues seeking a challenging yet uniquely restful retreat.

On a rare day when there is no "cow work" to be done, there are a number of wilderness trail rides to enjoy. The scenery is spectacular with views ranging from the eroded, multi-colored foothills to the pine and aspen covered Bighorn Mountains. Wildflowers on the sunny slopes, mountain streams and waterfalls, deer, elk, moose and bighorn sheep combine to provide unparalleled scenic photographic opportunities.

Play a friendly game of horseshoes with other guests, try your hand at archery, trapshooting, or fly fishing just down the hill in Shell Creek. You may just want to kick back and relax.

In addition to ranch work, our customized roping arena provides an opportunity for practical instruction as well as rodeo-style entertainment. Local cowboys gather weekly to practice their skills and encourage participation by our guests.

Other activities can include: Explore the Red Gulch dinosaur track site. Take an airboat tour of the majestic Bighorn River where you may spot wild horses, many different kinds of wildfowl including mallard ducks, Canadian geese, sandhill cranes and blue herons. Step back in time and imagine the old mines that are seen along the waterway, some of which are still active.
